Reorganising my office and my life

Well, it’s probably time that I gave you all a little update on where things are at in my life. For those that I haven’t been entirely forthright with, this may come as a surprise:  I’m been seeing the same person for the last … while… Let’s not talk about how long it’s been.

But anyway, the thing is, we’ve decided that we want to have a baby, and so I am going about setting my life “in order” to be able to handle this type of situation and change.  For starters, in the office I have gone out of my way to be “over staffed” and “under-trained” with a whole lot of new faces.  Gives me time to train everyone up to where I’m going to need them to be, if this actually becomes a reality and I have to start handling less time in the office.

So, I have the following assistants in the office now:

Joan Cajar – lawyer – she’s starting to handle her own clients, but still working on each file with her.

Stefanie – lawyer – currently on leave for 3 months, to finish her Master’s degree.  Hopefully back in November.

Meyvis – 4th year law student – finishes in April 2008, so am training her up to be a lawyer.  Starts full-on English course in January 2008, and in the meantime I am loading her up with everything.

Crystal – 2nd year law student – speaks English fluently – so acting as my PA and taking care of clients

Linethe – 1st year law student – speaks little English.  At English classes 3 hours per day.  Works 7 – 2 p.m., and then off to classes.  Training to become a paralegal, and hopefully will have her working for me as a paralegal for the next 3 years.

Lucia – 1st year computer/English student.  Works 2 – 8 p.m., so that I can answer all of those client emails, and prepare for the next day.  Is working while I’m at the gym after 5.00.  =)

Mare (used to look after me when I was a baby) – is now working for me 9.30 – 3.00 – at home and in the office.  Is my lady Friday, doing anything and everything that I need done, for me to disconnect from home.  Does my grocery shopping, pays my bills, will cook my meals when I get off the lemonade diet, and just generally make sure that I am happy and healthy.  Just what i needed.  My mum!  =)

Anyway, that’s what I’m working on at the moment – so that I know that when the moment comes to not be at work so much, I have already trained up my staff to take care of things, and don’t find myself in a crunch of “what am I doing?” or “what was I thinking?”.

Anyway – that’s how life is reorganised for now…
